The Mocca – ‘Dragon Fruit Smoothie Bowl’
If we made a list of Canggu’s most Instagrammable cafes then ‘The Mocca’ might be the automatic number 1 choice. The cafe’s interior is homely and their food, both breakfast and dinner, is unbelievably good.
Every bowl we have tried is delicious, though our top choice, again, is the dragon bowl. The smoothie bowl is a true 10/10 in the looks department. It comes with a dragon fruit base, topped with strawberries, banana and coconut. The ultimate win though is the chocolate granola, YUM!
Jikaa – ‘Summer in Bali’
Jikaa is a quaint café with a small team of staff, but don’t let this fool you. You better believe that their food and coffee puts them right up there with the best cafes in Canggu.
Their “Summer in Bali” is one of our favourites and surely one of the best smoothie bowls in Canggu. The bowl has a dragon fruit base, granola and is topped with watermelon, pineapple and coconut. The best thing? You can pay a little more for some extra granola. Because there’s no such thing as too much granola, right?
Rise and Shine – ‘The Dragon Bowl’
If you knew how many times we’d visited ‘Rise & Shine’ then you might assume it’s our personal favourite. The friendly staff, great breakfast choices and good coffee are what make this café special.
Unsurprisingly we choose their dragon bowl as another one of our top smoothie bowls in Canggu. The dragon fruit smoothie base is delicious and is only made better with the granola, kiwi, pineapple and mango toppings!
Another of our favourites breakfasts from the always amazing Rise & Cafe. Technically, the ‘beach bowl’ isn’t a smoothie bowl but it’s close enough.
The Beach Bowl is made up of granola, honey and a choice of yoghurt or chia pudding. It is finished off with a wall of fresh fruits that you must devour before you reach the delicious base. You might be mistaken into thinking that the Beach Bowl looks exactly like the dragon bowl. Though, trust us, the bowls differ once you get through epic topping of fruit.
Secret Spot – ‘Choco Loco’
If you’re looking for the best vegan café in Canggu then this might just be it. Everything on their menu is raw/vegan/vegetarian, not only that, but it’s also 100% delicious. You don’t usually catch us at vegan cafes, though this is one that we can’t keep away from!
The choco loco bowl is different, but one option that we can’t get enough of. The bowl has a cocoa base and is topped with grated coconut, banana and some grade A chocolate granola. It tastes as if it should be eaten on a ‘cheat day’ but still remains perfectly healthy.
Nalu Bowls – ‘Uluwatu’
Nalu bowls is possibly the most well-known and best place for smoothie bowls in Canggu. They have branches in Canggu, Seminyak, Uluwatu, Kuta, Jakarta and even Portugal. Their international success should tell you one thing, that their smoothie bowl only menu is top quality.
We can never look past their ‘Uluwatu’ bowl. It has the perfect dragon fruit base, honey, granola and strawberry; mango; coconut toppings.
I Am Vegan Babe – ‘Cacao Tree’
I Am Vegan Babe is a new 100% plant-based cafe in Canggu. So new in fact, that it didn’t even have a sign when we visited. So, it was hard to find, but well worth the effort because their food is an absolute delight. Even for non-vegans like ourselves.
They really went “all in” on their Cacao Tree smoothie bowl as it includes, cacao, cacao nibs AND chocolate. It’s one chocolatey bowl of goodness and again, 100% vegan! The rest of the ingredients are banana, coconut yoghurt, granola and strawberries. This bowl might be expensive, but it’s Canggus best choco smoothie bowl by a mile.
Crate Café – ‘Brekkie2GoGo’
If the ‘best cafes in Canggu’ was a popularity competition then Crate Café would win, hands down. There’s not a moment of the day that this café isn’t buzzing with people, however, its popularity is well deserved. It’s a fun quirky environment, overlooking a rice paddy and offers fantastic food and coffee.
If you’re looking for an amazing breakfast in Canggu then their Brekkie2GoGo bowl fits the bill. The smoothie bowl is topped with a fortress of dragon fruit and strawberries and underneath only gets better. The smoothie is a thick, delicious, dragon fruit blend mixed with granola, cashew nuts and raisins.
Sprout – ‘Kokako’
I’m just going, to be honest, I don’t think ‘Sprout’ is the catchiest name for a café. Don’t be put off though, this cafe is home to one of the best smoothie bowls in Canggu without a doubt!
The Kokako bowl is delicious. It’s made with strawberry, blueberry, banana, coconut, chia seeds and granola. So, not only is the smoothie bowl delicious, it’s endlessly healthy too. Our favourite thing about this bowl is the fact that Sprout certainly doesn’t skimp on the toppings. There’s plenty of ingredients to give you plenty of flavours.
The Shady Shack – ‘Cacao Bowl’
The Shady Shack has been on our list for a while because of its big reputation. Let us tell you something, it lives up to and exceeds its reputation as one of Canggu’s best cafes. They focus completely on vegetarian and vegan dishes, so if you’re plant-based, then Shady Shack is the place for you!
Enough praise for the establishment and not let’s talk about their smoothie bowl(s). Again, if you’re looking for a change to the typical dragon fruit base then Shady Shack has your back. The cacao bowl is a cacao-based smoothie, topped with cacao nibs and a ton of coconut. Honestly, it’s like heaven. But in a bowl.
The Loft – ‘Pink Dragon’
The Loft Canggu is one of the areas hippest cafes with roots all the way back in Bondi Beach Sydney. Their menu has an all-day eating experience and caters for everyone. Plant-based dishes are on the menu, as are some dishes for the meat-eaters. One thing that all their food has in common is fresh ingredients and top quality taste!
We can personally shout out the Pink Dragon bowl as one of the best smoothie bowls in Canggu. The bowl includes a combination of Dragon fruit, mango, banana, strawberry, bee pollen, blended with fresh orange juice. Their Pink Dragon bowl is then topped with banana, mango, strawberry and granola. If that’s not enough to make your mouth water…then what is?
GIVE Cafe – ‘Berry Bright’
Gives website tells you everything you need to know in just one phrase. “We do things differently here”. Indeed they do, and we love it! The cafe is run by the Kynd Community and they are 100% plant-based and give 100% of their profits to charity.
If their company mission isn’t enough to keep you coming back, their ‘Berry Bright’ smoothie bowl might be. This amazing smoothie bowl is made with mixed berries, banana, watermelon and coconut milk. It’s topped with seasonal fruits, coconut flakes and delicious cinnamon and raisin granola. 100% plant-based, 100% yummy.
Satu-Satu Coffee Company – ‘Lady Gaga’
This place has to be among the cheapest places to eat in Canggu. Their omelettes, smoothie bowls and amazing coffee make for a wonderful cheap breakfast. You’ll know from the moment you arrive how popular Satu Satu is, it’s often busy but with enough tables for everyone. Their service is great too and you’ll never be left waiting.
We particularly love the Lady Gaga smoothie bowl which has to be among the best value smoothie bowls in Canggu. Coming in at just 50K, all taxes included, this bowl is a steal. It’s made with dragon fruit, tropical fruits, grated coconut, granola and honey. It’s cheap, it’s delicious, it’s what keeps us coming back.
